Here I will tell you what I know of the history of my family James G West was born in Rogersville Pa, Greene co.
They were farmers there.Jeremiah was the last of their children to be born in Pa. He was born in 1888 and they moved to Wv
sometime between 1888 and 1889. Hester was a member of the Sycamore Baptist church in 1889. They lived in the Trace Fork area
of the Bear Fork. I believe they lived most of their life in that area. They are both buried in the Nobe Cemetery , as are
some of their children and some siblings of James. Jeremiah and Icie are supposed to be buried there but can't seem to prove
that. Jeremiah's funeral record says he is buried there but there is no record as of yet to prove that. I hope to find much
more history on the West in Pa and in Wv. I live in Alaska so it is hard for me to get access to the info I need . So check
back as I will update as soon as I get more .
This article was in the Hur Herald , Calhon Co Wv 1908 Barn Burning Investigated Barn and
Horses burned One night last week the barn and all the grain, three fine horses and harness, of JG West, on the waters
of Trace Fork, was destroyed by fire. This was undoubtedly set on fire by someone , as there was no other way in which it
could have started. This is among the worst crimes that could have been committed. Officers are working on the case and no
doubt will bring the guilty one to time. Everyone sympathizes very much with Mr. West, and no one can figure out
why such a deed would be done to him, as he is well liked by all his neighbors. This appeared in the paper in 1908.
My info on the West have come from the 1900 Census for Calhoun co and marriage records for Gilmer co and my father's birth
record. Also I have some land records , my father's social security app....I found alot of info on the Calhoun co website
